Al Sama Ink Factory is considered the first of its kind in the Kingdom and its production began in 1981 AD, and in a dialogue held by Riyadh with Professor Khalid bin Ali Al Sama Al Zahrani, General Director of the factory, he mentioned that the inks industry is considered one of the complex chemical industries due to the large number of compounds, elements and raw materials that enter this industry. Since the beginning of the establishment of the factory, we have been keen on attracting international, American and European human competencies in chemical sciences and industrial engineering to reach high quality. As is known, international companies that manufacture goods and products cannot give or sell the confidential formula nor the mixing ratios of materials, so it was important for us to invest In this aspect, in order for us to have the chemical equations and the quality of the raw materials from which the inks are made, it took us a lot of effort and money, but thank God, we are now considered one of the global factories that have knowledge of all its details in this industry and about the inks industry in the Kingdom. The only one who makes real inks through mixing and mixing basic chemical compounds is Al Sama Factory for inks and most of the materials used. Dama is made by Aramco or SABIC. As for the other factories, most of them are bottling factories, as the majority import ready-made inks from abroad in large barrels and then fill them in small packages according to market demand and then put a mark made in Saudi Arabia, and this greatly affected us and the industry in The Kingdom because the government, may God cherish it, when it decided to support the national industry, its goal was to create a real industry and not a packaging industry. Therefore, our hope is held by the Minister of Trade and Industry to stop this tampering in the industry and to differentiate between what is really made in Saudi Arabia and what is packaged in Saudi Arabia because this matter is important to We and many factories that have invested millions of riyals in the knowledge industry. The other thing is that our wise leadership has given priority to the national industry in government tenders, but what is happening now has lost the national factories the ability to compete internally because of the fake manufacturing processes that some factories pursue in their claim that the product was made in Saudi Arabia while The truth is that it was packaged in Saudi Arabia, so we and many factories ask His Excellency the Minister to verify this matter and not grant any manufacturer a mark. Made in Saudi Arabia unless the truth of the matter is ascertained even if the factory has an industrial license, but a distinction is made between what is manufactured from raw raw materials and what is only packaged. Professor Khaled added that the volume of machines, equipment and investments that were pumped into the Al Sama inks factory is estimated in the tens of millions It is one of the modern and advanced devices, as for the factories that fill in, the size of the machines and equipment that they have does not exceed hundreds of thousands, which is a place to mix colors in certain proportions to obtain a new color. They import colors approximately 10 colors and then mix between them to reach the desired color As for us, we use the basic raw materials that are the basis in the manufacture of inks and most of them were manufactured in Aramco or SABIC and most of them come in the form of powder, which are chemicals whose properties are changed through temperature and other physical and chemical factors that in their entirety are ink according to use. There are inks for newspapers and others for magazines and others for cardboard and other for tinplate and others for plastics. Each type of material has a type of inks that are compatible with it and in a question about the color. Specifications and standards used in the inks industry Professor Khaled mentioned that there are no specifications and standards in the true sense of the inks industry in the Kingdom, but there are international standards, and there is no strict control over the process of importing inks from abroad, but what many do not know is that some inks may be added to some oils and greases that we are As Muslims, we reject it, but it is natural to use it abroad, as some chemical compounds that are used in inks have a high degree of toxicity and some have a great impact on the environment, so it is important to find Saudi specifications for the inks that are introduced into the country, and about the factory’s production, Professor Khaled mentioned that the factory produces more Of the 30 types of inks that are used in all types of printing, he added that most of our production is exported due to the quality of the ink and the high and international specifications that our factory enjoys and about the size of the internal demand for the inks produced by the Al Samaa inks factory. Khaled said that, unfortunately, most of those responsible for the purchase of inks are equally In newspapers, publishing houses, or some government agencies they do not know about inks and know little about them, and we do not blame them for this matter. Because there are no laboratories or official bodies that inform them of the secrets of this industry, especially since inks touch people’s lives on a daily basis by browsing newspapers or reading books and everything must be inked, and about the future of the ink industry in the Kingdom, Professor Khaled said for us we are constantly developing Our products are based on what we do in terms of studies and research. We are also keen to follow up everything new in this industry, especially with regard to machinery and equipment. As for the ink industry in the Kingdom, if the situation continues as it is currently, whether as a general culture or as officials in the procurement departments or Regulations and laws, the inks industry in the Kingdom needs a lot of time to be a pioneer and for our country to be an exporter and not an importer. He added that we are now studying some industrial projects for the manufacture of some chemical compounds that are used in the manufacture of inks and paints, which are considered from the manufacturing industries and most of their basic materials will be from Aramco or SABIC.
